CRYSTAL FALLS – After dropping a close five-game match to West Iron on Oct. 18, the Lady Trojans volleyball team quickly returned to the court and split their next two matches, defeating North Dickinson in four sets on Oct.  20 and dropping a four-set match to Kingsford on Oct. 25.
Trojans coach Bobbie Jo Anderson praised the team on the victory over the Nordics of North Dickinson.
“It was a conference win and any win against a tough opponent is worth celebrating,” she said.
As the team heads into the final week of regular season play and their final regular season match on Oct. 28, their-four set loss to Kingsford, a class B school, also added to the team’s confidence.
“Any time you can play a much larger school and show you can be competitive, the team can certainly feel good,” Anderson said. “I’m really happy with how well we played Kingsford. When you see a Class B school on your schedule you can only hope your team will rise to the occasion and I think we did just that.
“The girls played hard, they executed our game plan and improved in the areas we have been working on. Two of the games could have gone either way had we minimized a few of our unforced errors.”
The Lady Trojans were led by Ava Fischer, Charlie Larson, Leah Feldhausen, Ema Stepien and freshmen Ava Fischer and should see a good playoff run.
The postseason for the area’s volleyball teams began the week of Oct. 31.
