Boy Scouts of America presents highest award to Gary Sabol

IRON COUNTY – On March 19, Gary Sabol was awarded the highest award you can receive in Boy Scouts, The Silver Beaver Award.
The Silver Beaver Award is the council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Upon nomination by their local Scout council and with the approval of the National Court of Honor, recipients of this award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council.
The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication and many years of service. It is given to those who do not seek it. This is the highest award that the council can present to an adult scouter. An individual has had to contributed not only in many ways to youth through BSA programs they also have had to have been involved in their community through volunteering in the betterment of such.
Attending were Gary’s sons; Kurt (Lisa) Sabol, Darren Sabol and Shane Remondini, grandsons; Alesandro and Brandon Sabol. Along with family was Mark Stauber and Jared Stauber. Bay Lakes Council Commissioner Roy LaPean introduce Gary Sabol to all and gave a slight bio of Gary’s nomination information.
On Feb. 16, Troop 521 held a Court of Honor awarding Scouts Gerald (JT) Weeks and Alesandro Sabol with numerous merit badges they earned over the summer at Camp Hiawatha and this fall into the winter at Troop meetings. Both Scouts also went up in rank and are now Second Class Scouts.
