CRYSTAL FALLS — The Lady Trojans softball team started the year at 4–0 after having a strong preseason, which included a victory at the Superior Dome.  Unfortunately, the past two weeks have seen the team run into stiff competition. After losing five of their last six games, their record now rests at five wins and five losses.
Following a double header loss to Bark River on April 27, the Trojans split with North Dickinson 10–9 then followed the loss up with a 20–2 victory.  Two weeks later on May 9, the team dropped a double header to Superior Central, 15–12 and 19–4.
“We played Superior Central close in the first game, but unfortunately ran out of pitching and couldn’t keep it close in the nightcap,” said coach Kimberly Pekarek. “Seven of our nine fielders are freshmen so, although we have had a temporary setback, I am still very optimistic about the season.”
