CRYSTAL FALLS – Crystal Theatre’s 2023 Legend Concert shines a spotlight on The Ozark Mountain Daredevils Friday, July 7 at 7 p.m.  The popular band of the 70s and 80s is widely known for their singles “If You Wanna Get to Heaven” and “Jackie Blue.” Two of the founding members, John Dillon and Michael Supe Granda, are still touring with the band.
In 2022, the group celebrated their 50th year anniversary, making their Grand Ole Opry debut in Nashville as part of their Time Warp Tour. A documentary, Ozark Mountain Daredevils Backstage, was recently broadcast on PBS Television.
Aptly described as “a ragtag collection of hippies, bohemians and musicians of no fixed ambition,” the Daredevils have defied musical genre labels. They produce sounds of country-rock and electric bluegrass on the same record, write lyrics both whimsical and poetic, and sing harmonies that can send shivers up the spine.
The Daredevils organized as a band in Springfield, Missouri in 1971. In the beginning, they called themselves the Family Tree, then Burlap Socks and then the Emergency Band. They finally settled on the catchy moniker of Cosmic Corncob and His Amazing Ozark Mountain Daredevils—The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, for short.
The Daredevils have released a number of major label and independent record label recordings, and have traveled millions of miles performing throughout North America and Europe. They still attract and maintain a loyal and dedicated fan base throughout the world.
Their current lineup of talented musicians allows the band to perform songs from every corner of their vast catalogue, and they continue to delight Dareheads with their live performances.  With two of the original co-founders still on board, their signature sound and style remain intact and vibrant. Their newest albums, Off The Beaten Path (2017) and Heaven 20/20 (2019) are their first studio recordings since 1997. The new albums contain all new songs, proving their nonstop evolution as songwriters and musicians.
A sold-out audience is expected for this legendary performance.  All seats are reserved.
