Catch some community fun at Bass Fest

CRYSTAL FALLS — This is one community event that you won’t want to miss, as it is filled with fun activities such as kid’s games, delicious food and live music.
The Crystal Falls Lions Club is once again sponsoring the 58th Annual Bass Festival. This long-standing event is happening this weekend,  July 7-9.
Friday, July 7 the Finn vs Polack softball games will take place. The women’s game will start at 6 p.m. with men’s to follow, approximately at 8 p.m.
The Bass Festival parade makes its way down Superior Avenue at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 8. Registration and line up is at 9 a.m. at the Forest Park Schools.
The canoe race down the Paint River will take place after the parade. Registration is at 11 a.m. and will start at the Crystal Falls Power Plant and end at the bridge at the bottom of Superior Avenue.
At noon starts the Chicken BBQ – first come first serve will be held at Runkle Lake Park. Raffle tickets will be available both Saturday and Sunday. There will also be concessions from noon to 6:30 p.m. available (food and refreshments). The volleyball tournament will begin at 1 p.m. with registration taking place at 12:30 p.m. at the Lion’s Den. At 7:30 p.m. the Wop vs Swede softball game will begin.
Music will be provided from 1-6 p.m. by “Lovin Country”.
Sunday, July 9 the day starts off with the VFW Breakfast at 108 Superior Avenue from 8 a.m. to noon. A bounce house will be available for the kids all day on Sunday. Run your Bass Off 10K/Half Bass/2 Mile Walk/Kids Run is scheduled for 9 a.m. Starting at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. music will be provided by Paul Sundquist, with concessions starting at noon. The baby contest will take place at noon, followed by volleyball and horseshoe tournaments at 1 p.m., Jake and the Fireside Band will provide music from 2-6 p.m. and kid’s games start at 2 p.m.
Winners will be announced for the Fish contest at Runkle Lake Pavilion at 3 p.m. Raffle drawings will take place at 6 p.m. and the 58th annual Bass Festival will conclude at 7 p.m.
The annual fishing contest will be sponsored by Superior Sport and Feed. Registration will be available at the shop in Crystal Falls during business hours. Fish must be caught on an Iron County Lake.
