CRYSTAL FALLS  - St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at 809 Crystal Avenue is happy to announce their ‘Blessing of Pets’ service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m.
“We’ve missed a couple years of this popular event due to the COVID pandemic,” said The Rev. Peg Padilla. “We are so happy to be able to resume what was an annual event, honoring our animal companions.”
The service is scheduled each year as close to the Feast day of St. Francis, Oct. 4 as possible, since he is known for his love of all God’s creatures, and includes prayers for animals. including those who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, and individual blessing of each animal present.
The event is also a way to encourage support for our local animal shelter, The Northwoods Animal Shelter. Those attending are asked to bring a donation for the shelter. Their needs are many, including food, blankets and paper products. A complete wish list is available on the shelter website northwoodsanimalshelter.com. All pets and their humans are welcome to attend.
