George Boras

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — George Boras, 91, was born in Queens, N.Y. Aug. 25, 1932 and passed away peacefully in New York on May 1, 2024. No memorial service is planned; George's ashes will be buried with Geno's in Evergreen Cemetery, Crystal Falls. Contributions in memory of George may be made to the Gay Men's Health Crisis, 307 W. 38th Street, NY, NY 10017. The Nash funeral home and cremation services of Crystal Falls is handling local arrangements.

Carol Heckman

GLADSTONE — Carol A. Heckman, 81, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 4, 2024, at UPHS Marquette. She was born Oct. 31, 1942, to Steve and Esther Balla of Flint. Carol loved life and didn’t want people to mourn her passing by wearing dark colors. Please join us in sharing her colorful spirit by wearing cheerful colors. She would love that. A time of visitation was held on May 11 at Grace Church in Gladstone. The memorial service took place with Pastor Jordan Pardee having officiated. A time of fellowship followed the service. John Oberlin

IRON RIVER — John (Jack) W. Oberlin, 88, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility with his family by his side. The family would like to express its sincere thanks to the Iron County Medical Care staff and administration for their outstanding care for John.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Iron County Cancer Unit or Lakeland Baptist Church in John’s name. IRON RIVER — It is with great sadness that the family of John Martinson shares the news that he passed peacefully at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. John's health had been declining over the past several years, and he was called home into the arms of the Father on Wednesday, Jan.3, 2024. Visitation will be Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. It will continue on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 9 to noon, with services to follow at noon, all at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home. CRYSTAL FALLS — Katie Schultz, 90 passed away on Thursday, April 25 at Library Lane Senior Apartments in Grayslake where she moved to live closer to her daughter and son in 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 26, from 3 – 5 p.m. at Faith Fellowship Bible Church, 1314 Old US Hwy 2, Crystal Falls, MI 49920. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Faith Fellowship Bible Church in Crystal Falls.
