CRYSTAL FALLS - Come to the Crystal Falls District Community Library Saturday, May 25 at 6 p.m., for the book launch of James Jackson’s latest Seamus McCree Mystery, Hijacked Legacy. Jim will read a portion of Hijacked Legacy, and then he will have a Q&A session with the audience. Afterward, he will have books available to be autographed and purchased. The event is free to all to attend, and there will be refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.

Good Reads summarizes the book by stating Hijacked Legacy is about “The Happy Reaper, who is notorious for his chilling efficiency and “Results Guaranteed” calling card. He escapes prison. Instead of killing Seamus McCree on sight, he offers a diabolical bargain with a heart-stopping proviso. To live, Seamus must help the Happy Reaper find and eliminate the upstart impostor who’s trashing the assassin’s reputation. And Seamus must act quickly. Should the Happy Reaper’s bad heart give out or any harm come to him, the criminal underworld will wreak carnage on Seamus . . . and his loved ones. Can Seamus outsmart the impostor and appease the Happy Reaper without losing his own soul. The only thing Seamus knows for sure is that time is running out!”

“Hijacked Legacy is a really special book to our library,” states Library Director, Evelyn Gathu. “The reason is, during our “15 Days of CoVantage Cares with the Crystal Falls Library” fundraising campaign last November and December, Jim had a silent auction, and the winner would become a character in Hijacked Legacy. Charlene Bendick won the auction, and she is very excited about being a character in the book. Jim offered no hints of her character’s personality and people have to read the book in order to find out if Charlene is a major or minor character, a good guy or a villain. This is the second time Jim has had a silent auction with the prize of becoming a character. In 2022, Gabriel Belanger won the auction and had his mother Kimberly become a character in Jackson’s Granite Oath. Jim is a great author, and we are so thankful for all that he does for our library.”

If you have some company coming for Memorial Day, be sure to take them out for a pleasant evening here at the library. Many people love thriller mystery types of books, and if you are a fan of John Sandford or William Kent Kruger, be sure to try Jim’s books.

You’ll be sure to get hooked on this series and love Seamus, one of the most intelligent, funny, and clever characters you will ever meet.

If you have never been to a book launch, I guarantee you will love the experience. The Crystal Falls Library is located at 237 Superior Avenue. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call Evelyn at 906-875-3344 or email egathu@crystalfallslibrary.org.
