IRON RIVER — Debbie Ruzzicone, age 69, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

She was born June 4, 1951, in Stambaugh, the daughter of the late Richard Erickson, Jr. and Dolores (Quayle-Erickson) Bonel. She graduated from West Iron County High School in 1969. Debbie then attended Northern Michigan University, graduating in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in social work.

A lifelong resident of the area, she married John Ruzzicone on May 27, 2000. They resided at Golden Lake where she was jokingly known as the “Queen of Golden Lake” by family and friends.

Debbie was employed by MFC First National Bank for 25 years, retiring as a mortgage loan officer. She was also employed by Countrywide Home Loans for fi ve years as a mortgage originator. She enjoyed traveling, going to concerts, shopping, walking, and spending time with family and friends.

Debbie is survived by her husband, John; son, Shawn (Melissa) Otto of Carlsbad, N.M.; daughter, Sommer (Jason) Waligursky of Green Bay, Wis.; step-son, John Ruzzicone and step-daughter, Rochelle Ruzzicone, both of Appleton, Wis.; step-father, Julius Bonel of Iron River; sister, Linda Sue Korus of Georgia; stepsisters, Jeannie (Dave) Cimarelli of Iron River and Julie (Roy) Harris of Gladstone; six grandchildren, Cruz, Gavin, Darien, Izabella, Anthony and Dominic; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no service.
