IRON MOUNTAIN — Rev. Fr. James L. Menapace, 94, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain. CRYSTAL FALLS — Kathleen “Kay” Anna Poikonen, 86, passed away Feb. 7, 2022, after valiantly battling Alzheimer’s and other complications associated with this disease for several years. There will be no visitation due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A private funeral service limited to family and close friends will be held at the Christ Episcopal/Christ Lutheran Chapel in Elizabethtown, Ky., on Feb. 19 with Rev. Dr. Brian Baker and Rev. Dr. Robert Hetzel (retired) officiating. Masks are required. Burial will be at a later date at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls. IRON MOUNTAIN — Marilyn Lorene Rossi/Awrey, formerly of Amasa, passed away on Feb. 5. at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. Visitation was held on Feb. 9 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services were held at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church in Iron Mountain. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Fr. Janusz Romanek. Interment will take place in the Hematite Cemetery in Amasa in the spring. CASPIAN — Stanley J. Brzoznowski Sr., age 77, passed away on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, at UP Health System Marquette. Visitation was held Feb. 13 at the U.P. River Church of Iron River.
