UPPER PENINUSLA – This year’s October Big Day is just a month away.
Oct. 8 is the day birders unite across the world to provide a look at the distribution of birds during mid-fall migration.
Big Days are a 24-hour opportunity to celebrate birds near and far, but you don’t need to be a marathoner, you can participate if you just have 15 minutes to spare, or if you have 15 hours to devote.
Last October, birders from 195 countries reported 7,238 different species of birds during October Big Day 2021, demonstrating the power of birds to bring people together around the world. Wherever you are on Oct. 8, take a few minutes or a few hours to join the world of birding during October Big Day.
Participate from anywhere from your favorite fall birding location, a birding hotspot you always wanted to visit, or even from a window at home. Then share your sightings with eBird and check in to see what other birds are being reported worldwide. Be a part of the global team and help set a new record for the biggest October day of birding by starting to plan today by visiting October Big Day—8 Oct 2022 - eBird
To review last year’s expansive lists of results worldwide, see October Big Day - eBird
By taking part in October Big Day you’re also celebrating Global Bird Weekend and World Migratory Bird Day.
