Atanasoff helps out hoops neighbors

Jason Atanasoff, son of former Iron River resident Karl Atanasoff and his wife Vangie, was chosen as the Kenosha.com “Kenoshon of the Week” back in early February. Jason Atanasoff is the athletic director and the head basketball coach at The Prairie School in Wind Point, Wisconsin. While The Prairie School, a private Division 4 school, was able to play its full schedule of basketball games, three Racine public schools were not, but Atanasoff squeezed them into his schedule so the public schools could play some games. Racine Horlick coach Jason Treutelaar was quoted by Kenosha.com at the time, saying, “What that meant for the three Racine schools to be able to play those games … That says a lot about The Prairie School, their administration, and most importantly, about Jason and what he is all about. Some people might think it’s not that big of a deal, but for our kids, it is a big deal.” Atanasoff is the grandson of Carol and the late George Atanasoff and the grandson of Arsenia Macaspac of the Philippines.
