IRON RIVER — West Iron County junior Madison Berutti shot a 112 to finish sixth in the WIC Girls Invitational in windy, overcast conditions on May 25 at Young’s.
Berutti’s score topped the Wykons’ contingent, which included Kia Dallavalle (10th, 114), Ava Richardson (23rd, 135) and Harlie Mellstrom (24th, 146).
The Wykons shot a 507 to finish fourth behind team champion Westwood (432), Houghton (460) and Ontonagon (472). Forest Park wound up fifth with a 560.
Raven Jacobson led the Lady Trojans with a 131 good for 20th. Paige Mianecki (22nd, 133), Beth Nocerini (24th, 146) and Lily Reinke (26th, 150) rounded out the FP scorecard.
Rylie Koskinen of Baraga earned medalist honors with a 91, finishing two strokes ahead of Negaunee’s Rachel Niskanen.
The Vikings, the Miners and North Central all had individual golfers compete but did not field enough golfers to participate in the team competition.
Both West Iron and Forest Park will conclude their seasons at the U.P. Championships. The Wykon boys and girls will compete in the Division 2 event on June 2 at Young’s, while the FP squads will participate in the Division 3 event on June 3 at the Oaks Caddyshack Club, formerly known as the Irish Oaks, in Gladstone.
