CRYSTAL FALLS – The Lady Trojans volleyball team began their postseason with a victory over the Norway Knights on Tuesday, Nov. 2 and will move on to compete in the District Championship.
The first-round victory was not as close as the scores indicated, as the Trojans looked ready to make a deep run into the postseason and won easily 25–17, 25–20 and 25–9.
Junior Leah Feldhausen finished the night with 10 kills.
“We started off the game aggressively and played very well as a team,” she said. “We are ready for Thursday and happy about the win tonight.”
The Trojans will play for the District Championship against the North Dickinson Nordics on Thursday, Nov. 3. As the 2021 District Champion, the Trojans will have the opportunity to defend their title and win back-to-back championships for the first time since the 2011 and 2012 seasons.Coach Bobbie Anderson found the win too close for comfort and encouraged her team to play to its full potential.
“We definitely didn’t play our best tonight; however, we did enough to win,” she said. “The gym was quiet and we played flat, but we are going to celebrate the win and prepare for the district championship on Thursday.” Ava Fischer led the team with three aces, Charlie Larson with 21 assists and six digs and Ema Stepien and Leah Feldhausen each had 10 kills.
