WATERSMEET — Northern Waters Casino Resort in Watersmeet and mixed martial arts global powerhouse King of the Cage announced on Aug. 25 that they have signed a joint agreement to bring MMA back to the Northwoods and U.P. after a five-year hiatus.

The casino-resort will host the promotion on Saturday, Sept. 18, in the Northern Waters Event Center. Tickets are $40, $50, and $75.
With a minimum of seven fights, the event promises to bring non-stop action and mixed martial arts skill with four amateur and three professional matchups featuring up-and-coming MMA superstars.

“Many historical moments in MMA were born in the Northwoods and U.P. of Michigan, and many of the biggest stars have fought and earned their place in modern day MMA lore because of their experience there,” said Terry Trebilcock Jr, CEO and Founder of King of the Cage. “Our foothold in the Midwest really came from that area…. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have a partner like Northern Waters Casino and the Lac Vieux Desert Tribe.”

“We are really thrilled about bringing King of the Cage to our casino,” stated Michael J. Broderick, general manager of Northern Waters. “With us hopefully turning the corner with the ‘Great Pandemic’ of 2020 and celebrating our renewed freedom and wellbeing with our guests, Tribe, and team members in 2021, it couldn’t be a better time to work with the finest MMA organization in the country and to be hosting a world-class nationally televised event for our guests. It’s going to be a great show!”
