Nelson earns academic award at Gogebic CC

IRONWOOD — Former West Iron County basketball player Steven Nelson earned a first-team all-academic award through the National Junior College Athletic Association while playing for Gogebic Community College last season.
Nelson finished with a grade point average of 4.0 and was among nine GCC student athletes to earn an all-academic award.
“Gogebic Community College recognizes the amount of time and effort that all of our student athletes put forth to compete and succeed on their respective fields of play and in the classroom,” said Mike Boerman, GCC athletic director. “These athletes demonstrated that their level of commitment to their academic and athletic pursuits is unwavering. These athletes embody the best of what it means to be a Samson.”
