SAGOLA – Members of the Sagola Township Volunteer Fire Department recently hosted members of the Sagola Township Sportsmens Club Youth Shooting Program at their monthly meeting.
Fire Departments members had expressed an interest in supporting the youth shooting program.  The Big Shooters Club President, Alexander Erickson and club Treasurer, Gracie Swank attended the Sept. 11 meeting to answer any questions.  Erikson also thanked the Fire Department Members for allowing the Big Shooters to recover all the returnable cans at the Freedom Celebration on July 4 at the Channing ball field.
After a short presentation and questions and answer session the motion was made for the Sagola Township Volunteer Fire Department to donate $300 to the Sagola Township Sportsmens Club Youth Program.  Erickson and Swank stated that the money would be used to cover ammunition for practice and various travel expenses for the numerous competitive shoots that are attended throughout the year.
The Big Shooters meet at the Sagola Township Sportsmens Club range on the first Sunday of the month at 1 p.m. CST.
Shooters may participate in BB Gun, Air Rifle, .22 Rifle, 20 and 12 gauge Shotgun, and Archery.  Almost all expenses are covered by the various local sponsors.  The shooting sports program starts out with a firm base in safety and slowly moves to performance enhancement, and finally to competitive shooting.  For more information about the Big Shooters program please contact Anthony Erickson at 906-396-1119.
