CRYSTAL FALLS – In a defensive struggle, the Forest Park Trojans were able to eke out the first win of their season two weeks ago and emerged victorious 8–6. While questions were still being answered regarding the strength of the team, on the night of Sept. 1, the Trojans convincingly answered any critics by soundly defeating the Gogebic Miners 46–6.
“The team is starting to put things together,” Forest Park Coach Brian Fabbri said after the game. “We executed a lot better, have established a passing game and are taking care of business as it comes.”
As senior Sean McKissack closes in on 2,000 career rushing yards while sporting an impressive 7.1-yard average rush and 20 touchdowns, it is only right that Michigan Tech and St. Norbert College have both expressed an interest in having him play at the next level. A humble young man and typical high school senior, McKissack said he is not certain of his plans for college yet and is focusing on doing well his senior year.
Fabbri sees the upside as the season continues with center Adrian Bruette and a cadre of other linemen not only protecting the line of scrimmage, but blocking downfield.
“Adrian and the line are working their tails off,” he said.
The team is looking to continue their efforts, in the words of their coach, “one week at a time.”
The team’s following game was on Sept. 8 against North Dickinson (which has been outscored this season 135–12). The final score was SCORE, putting the Trojans in possession of a 3–0 record.
