The Forest Park Trojan track program is enjoying one of its finest seasons in many years. On May 18 the boys secured the Division Three Regional Championship while the girls came in a strong second.

With an impressive combination of athletes the Trojans are a threat to earn points in each of the 17 events. From shot put to hurdles, relays and distance, the team has an uncommon level of depth and should make a strong showing at the Upper Peninsula Championships June 1.

Sophomore Ava Fischer earned the right to be the top seated runner in the 100 hurdles for the Girls Team at the Championships and will be joined by five other Trojans who will be seated either first, second or third.

At the Regionals, the boys outran second place Bark River Harris, setting the pace with 72 points. The girls’ second place finish saw them drop to Stephenson 50.5 to 40.

Outstanding performances on the day included brothers Max and Joey Mainville who finished first and third respectively in the 800 meter run. The brothers’ times were just two seconds apart with older brother Max taking first place.

Freshman Izaiah Tarter convincingly won the 3200 meter run by besting second place by forty-one seconds, while Vienna Price came in second in the 800, second in the 1600 and third in the 3200.

Fellow freshman Dietrich Rasner placed first in the 300 hurdles and followed it up by contributing to the first place finish in the 4 by 400 Relay (Rasner, Dax Huuki, William Hoffman and Vic Giuliani). The Mainville brothers, Tarter and William Hoffman combined to win the 4 by 800 Relay.

Kevin Giuliani bested the field in both the shot put and discus, while his brother won the High Jump and Gabriel Quevedo took home first in the Pole Vault.

Outstanding performances for the girls included Elsie Williams, first in the 100 meter, second in the 400 meter, and second in the long jump. Vienna Price, second in the 800, second in the 1600, Ava Fischer, first in the 100 meter hurdles, 300 hurdles and second in the pole vault, and the relay team of Fischer, Ella Gasparich, Lily Sarder and Williams, who earned first place in the 4 by 200 meter.
