IRON RIVER — On the night of January 10, the West Iron County Wykons boys’ varsity team stepped onto the floor of with the Norway Knights with the intention of playing a hard fought game. It was not meant to be as the Knights cruised to victory 67-18.
Norway held a 12-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Knights would continue to expand upon that lead, bringing it to 30-6 at halftime.
By allowing only 2 points in the second quarter, Norway essentially sealed the game.
For West Iron, being held to a single-digit scoring quarter and another under 5 team points has occurred more often this season than they would like.
Junior Daniel James lead the Wykons in scoring with 5 points.
Breaking the press continues to be a point of contention for the boys from West Iron. It has been their Achilles’ heel all season.
They will be allocating quite a bit of gym time to the press break in the upcoming days and weeks.
