IRON RIVER — The fall prep tennis schedules in the Upper Peninsula provide quite a challenge for the girls teams who must work their way through them.

Forest Park senior middle hitter Gracie Peterson took control in the middle of the third set of the Lady Trojans’ match against Carney-Nadeau and led FP to a thrilling comeback five-set victory over the Wolves. Peterson finished with a team-high 16 kills.

West Iron senior Kali Applin returned to action on Aug. 23 after a week layoff because of illness. In her first match of the season, Applin dropped the first set to Marquette’s Annabella Martinson 6-3, but then quickly rebounded to win the second 6-0. Martinson, who along with her teammates had played earlier in the day against Kingsford, retired after the second set because of dizziness to give Applin the win.
